Product release information for VIPRE Email Security Cloud released on May 7, 2019.

What's New?

This release of VIPRE Email Security Cloud includes support for four new add-on services:

Attachment Sandboxing

Attachment Sandboxing provides an additional layer of security against potentially malicious attachments. Files are analyzed within a protected sandbox using machine learning to detect previously-unknown malicious content.

  • Isolated sandbox allows our Behavioral Determination Engine (BDE) to observe actual suspect activity of attachment samples, including remote downloads of additional malicious content
  • The BDE leverages a machine learning model trained on millions of malware samples to detect zero-day, polymorphic, and advanced persistent threats with high accuracy

Phishing Protection

Automatic bad URL detection and blocking defends against links becoming weaponized after they are received.

  • Replaces URLs within email messages to enable "click-time re-scanning" of potentially malicious content
  • Provides additional visibility and training to users that click on weaponized links

Archiving

Fast, easy, and complete email archiving with custom management rules.

  • All email content is securely stored, fully indexed, and easily searchable
  • Supports disaster recovery and legal discovery requirements while conforming to privacy rules

Encryption

Data compliance plus the convenience for strict email confidentiality and security

  • Securely deliver sensitive information to only the intended recipients through a branded, encrypted email portal
  • Simple, transparent usage with no special requirements imposed on the recipient

System Requirements

VIPRE Attachment Sandboxing, Phishing Protection, Archiving and Encryption are additional services and all require VIPRE Email Security Cloud as a prerequisite. Please contact a VIPRE sales representative for more information about enabling these additional email services today.

Known Issues and Workarounds

This section lists issues that are known at the time of release. In some cases these are bugs that we are working to resolve with a subsequent release. Other items may be due to causes outside of our control, such as bugs with other vendors' software. In all cases we have tried to provide a workaround for you to consider in case you should experience an issue.

If you have questions about a specific issue, please provide the issue ID (if applicable) when contacting our Technical Support team.

Admin console "Unsubscribe" button for certain add-ons does not display [AT-63, AP-3767]

Symptom: Sales, Admin Support, and Resellers of Email Security Cloud cannot currently unsubscribe a customer from certain add-ons. The "Unsubscribe" button in the Admin console does not display.

Workaround: If you encounter an add-on without an "Unsubscribe" button, contact VIPRE Support to unsubscribe a customer.

Gmail displays "Suspicious link" warning when attempting to release an email [AT-40]

Symptom: When viewing an email with a link to release the message, clicking the release link causes Gmail to display a warning message. The text of the message reads "This link leads to an untrusted site. Are you sure you want to proceed to xxx.mx25.net?". The resource portion of the URL ("XXX" in this example) will vary, depending on which portal you are connecting to.

Workaround: This is a temporary bug where Gmail falsely detects release links as potentially dangerous. Emails with a release link that points to the mx25.net domain are safe. In this case, click Proceed to continue to the portal.

Messages sent with Encryption cannot be recalled from the secure portal link [ES-102]

Symptom: When using the Encryption add-on, messages that have been sent contain a secure link that allows the recipient to view the encrypted content on the Email Security portal. This link cannot currently be invalidated or manually expired, and therefore the encrypted message will remain on the portal until it expires.

Workaround: When generating encrypted messages, be extra cautious not to send them to an incorrect address. VIPRE is currently developing a recall or expire function for a future release.
