Threat IQ Server Service Change

VIPRE is announcing an upcoming service change for our Threat IQ Server (v1) threat intelligence service.

Starting October 18th, 2021, we will require the use of secure encrypted connections to download Threat IQ files from our distribution servers, and unencrypted protocols (i.e., plain FTP) will be disabled.

You will likely need to adjust any download processes or automated scripts used to download Threat IQ files. Any FTP clients should be reconfigured to use FTP-over-TLS (SSL), using the following specifications:

  • Server: avshare.vipre.com
  • Protocol: FTP-over-SSL (FTPS)
  • Credentials: Use the credentials supplied to you as part of your Threat IQ subscription

For most customers, your existing configuration should work, and you need only switch the protocol.

Encryption Availability Date September 6, 2021 You may reconfigure your FTP clients after this date
Encryption Enforcement Date October 18, 2021 You must reconfigure your FTP clients prior to this date

If you would like to evaluate an alternate solution—Threat IQ Cloud (v2)—which provides the same threat intelligence using a RESTful API, or if you have any questions about this upcoming change, please contact Support to discuss.
