The Forbidden Lists and Forbidden Recipients features in SafeSend allow administrators to limit which distribution lists or specific recipients their users are permitted to send emails to. Forbidden Lists
The ForbiddenLists setting prevents users from being able to send email to any Outlook or Exchange distribution list.
- Within Outlook, make the following selections: File > Options > Add-ins > Add-in Options
- Click Edit Settings
- You may be required to enter the Administrator password if your organization has set this
- Click the arrow next to Advanced to expand the Advanced Settings
- Scroll down to ForbiddenLists; this is set to False by default
- Select True from the drop-down menu to enable this feature
- Select False from the drop-down menu to disable this feature
- Click Close Window when done
Forbidden Recipients
The ForbiddenRecipients setting prevents users from being able to send email to an included email address.
- Within Outlook, make the following selections: File > Options > Add-ins > Add-in Options
- Click Edit Settings
- You may be required to enter the Administrator password if your organization has set this
- Click the arrow next to Advanced to expand the Advanced Settings
- Scroll down to ForbiddenRecipients and open the drop-down menu
- Enter the desired email addresses you'd like to prevent your users from sending emails to, one per line
- To get to the next line, press Shift+Enter on your keyboard
- Click Close Window when done
Additional Steps
If you'd like to customize the popup message a user sees when they've attempted to email an address on the Forbidden lists:
- Within Outlook, make the following selections: File > Options > Add-ins > Add-in Options
- Click Edit Settings
- You may be required to enter the Administrator password if your organization has set this
- Select the Strings tab at the top
- Look for the following strings and edit as desired:
- StringForbiddenRecipient
- StringForbiddenReceipients
- StringForbiddenRecipientTitle
- Click Close Window when done
