Managing Encrypted Device Passwords

The Manage Device screen has two states, depending on if the device has been unlocked:

  • If a device is locked, you can Unlock or Recover user passwords.
  • Once a device is unlocked, you can Change user passwords and Add Users.

To access the Manage Device screen from an Unlocked device:

  1. In Windows Explorer, right-click the device. Select Manage Device.
  2. To change a user password:
    1. Select a user from the list.
    2. Click the Change button.
    3. Type your current password in the Old Password field.
    4. Type a new password in the Password field.
    5. Retype the new password in the Confirm field.
    6. Click OK;then, click OK again.
    7. You will receive a confirmation message that the password change is applied to your device.
  3. To add a user:
    1. Click Add User ...
    2. Fill in the User namePassword and Confirm password fields; then, click OK.
  4. Click OK to finish.

To access the Manage Device screen from a Locked device:

  1. In Windows Explorer, right-click the device. Select Manage Device.
  2. To unlock the device:
    1. Click the Unlock button.
    2. Enter the password for the device; then, click OK.
  3. To recover a user password:
    1. Click the Recover button.
    2. You will be provided with an Encrypted Medium ID and Security Code. Provide this information to your administrator.
    3. Your administrator will need to then provide a passphrase.
    4. Key in or copy/paste the passphrase in the Enter passphrase received from administrator field.
    5. Enter a new password in the New Password field, and the same password in the Confirm Password field.
    6. Click OK.
  4. Click OK to finish.
