The VIPRE Cloud Agent for macOS provides robust, cloud-managed endpoint security designed to protect your Apple macOS-enabled devices from a wide range of cyber threats. This essential security solution offers features such as real-time threat detection, advanced anti-malware capabilities, all managed conveniently from the VIPRE Cloud console.
Installing the VIPRE Cloud Agent on your macOS device is straightforward. This ensures your system is quickly and effectively shielded against evolving digital dangers. This article will guide you through each step of the installation, helping you seamlessly integrate VIPRE's powerful protection into your macOS environment.
The following instructions assume you are logged in to your subscribed VIPRE Cloud product's web console with administrator credentials:

- Navigate to the Deploy Agents section in the left-hand navigation of your web console
- Under the macOS agent section, you may see New Version and/or Current Version:
-
New Version means a new agent version is available
- You can opt to test it out first by clicking Try New Version, which allows you to create an installer for use on a specific set of test devices before approving it for full production use
- Selecting Approve Version generates the approved installer file, allowing you to deploy the agent to your production environment
-
Current Version allows you to choose from Download Installer or Create Policy Installer
- Clicking Download Installer allows you to obtain a copy of the agent PKG installer file
- Selecting Create Policy Installer will have you select a policy first; this can be either the default policy or a customized policy you've created yourself
- After you've chosen your policy, click Select, and your agent PKG installer file will be generated and downloaded
-
New Version means a new agent version is available
Important
It is imperative to make sure the name of the downloaded file is not modified. The name of the file includes a token that is required for a successful agent installation and registration to your VIPRE Cloud console. Any modification of the file name could result in an unsuccessful installation.
- Arrange to securely transfer the downloaded PKG installer file to your target macOS endpoints
- Double-click the file to begin the installation process; follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation
- You may be asked for administrator credentials during this process
Depending on the version of macOS on your computer, these steps may occur directly on your device after the software upgrade and require your interaction to grant necessary permissions for the VIPRE Cloud Agent to function correctly.
