Allow List Edit section

This page allows you to allow/whitelist sender addresses, domain names, wildcards and IP addresses in the account level as well as the user level. This sender or domain's email will bypass Spam Filtering. It also has deleting, searching, sorting, importing and exporting capabilities.

General Edit section

A single message from a user will automatically add that recipient to the user’s allow list. Two or more messages from users to a particular recipient will automatically add that recipient to the domain’s allow list.

Allow list entries take precedence over Deny entries. Policies and Advanced Policies have precedence over allow/deny entries. See Appendix for further information.

Account-level tab

This tab allows you to manage allow/whitelist entries for all domains in the account.

  • Delete Button: Deletes all selected allow entries from the list. One can also delete single allow entries by clicking on the trash icon on the far right associated with each entry.
  • Import Button: Imports a .csv file containing a list of allow entries. Format is one entry per line. Each line contains one email address, domain name or ip address. The '*' and '%' characters may be used as wildcards, matching any username or domain in an address. For example, '*@test.com' will match all of 'alice@test.com', and 'bob@test.com', while 'carol@*' would match 'carol@test1.com' and 'carol@test2.com'. Wildcards may also be used for the first or last octet of an ip address, e.g. '10.0.0.*' would match '10.0.0.1' or '10.0.0.192'.
  • Export Button: Exports a .csv file containing all entries from the allow list. Same format as imported files.
  • Allow type: Displays results based on the type of allowed entry. Types:
    • Automatic Allow: Shows emails that have been automatically allowed. (When there is an email sent out to a recipient or if there is constant email correspondence between a sender and user, the recipient's address or the sender's email address is trusted and automatically allowed)
    • Manual Allow: Shows allow entries that have been added manually by the user.
    • All: Shows all allow entries, i.e. Manual, Admin and Automatic.
  • Search box and button: The search field searches the entire list for any matching results and displays them accordingly. The '*' character can be used as a wildcard. For example, searching for 'a*c' would match 'bob@abc.com', 'alice@bc.com', 'ac.com' and 'abbc'.com'.
  • Add box and button: The add field takes any valid format of email address, domain name, wildcards or an IP address as an entry. The add button adds it to the allow list.
  • Allow List: The list populates based on the search criteria and can be sorted in ascending or descending order by double clicking on the columns. It can be sorted by the name of the Sender/Domain, Type as well as the Date Updated.

User-Level tab

This tab allows you to manage allow/whitelist entries for specific users.

The functionality of the User Level page is very similar to the Account Level page except that in this page you can manage allow entries for specific users.

  • For User: This search field allows you to enter the email address of the user and it auto populates with entries to select from based on matched search entries. Once the particular user is found and selected, it displays the allowed entries specific for that user. It then has deleting, searching, sorting, importing and exporting capabilities like the previous Account Level tab.

Info

  • IP addresses as well as wild characters are allowed in the Search and Add boxes. Examples of allowed entries: *@xyzdomain.com (all emails from a domain xyzdomain.com), *.domain.com (all subdomains of a domain name, xyzdomain.com) Examples of incorrect entries: *alice*, *alice@xyzdomain.com
  • Priority of Allow entries are higher than Deny entries. E.g. In case of a conflict when allowing abc@xyzdomain.com and denying xyzdomain.com, abc@xyzdomain.com is allowed.

Deny List

This page allows you to deny/blacklist sender addresses, domain names, wildcards and IP addresses in the account as well as the user level. This sender or domain's email will be quarantined based on whether it’s added in the account or user level. It also has deleting, searching, sorting, importing and exporting capabilities.
