Status

The Status screen shows a summary of the VIPRE Privacy Shield scan results. Blocking unauthorized use of your webcam or microphone, tracking, and ads is as easy as toggling the on/off switch for each.

Status

On the Status dashboard, you'll find an overall view of what VIPRE Privacy Shield has found on your computer. You can see the status and number of records found for each category, turn on certain blockers, and perform a scan of your system.

Login Credentials

The Login Credentials screen shows usernames and passwords that VIPRE found stored in your web browsers during the last scan with VIPRE Privacy Shield (previously VIPRE Identity Shield).

Login Credentials

With the Login Credentials feature in VIPRE Privacy Shield, you can:

  • Review a list of your stored logins
  • Open selected items in your browser
  • Delete or move selected items to the Vault

VIPRE Recommends

For your protection, delete unused passwords and move all other passwords to the vault for later retrieval.

Personal Information

In VIPRE Privacy Shield (previously VIPRE Identity Shield), the Personal Information screen displays a series of profiles for information that's detected within your web browser's saved form data.

Personal Information

Every time personal information is entered into a "form" in your web browser, it might be stored for future use. Information relating to a person's ID (such as credit card numbers, addresses, or phone numbers), is considered private and is gathered here for your review. VIPRE Privacy Shield combines people by name into a single "profile".

VIPRE Recommends

While the information stored in your web browser makes it convenient to use certain websites (online shopping, for example), it does pose a security risk. For the best protection online, clear this information from your browsers.

Browsing Tracks

Browsing Tracks lets you review the browsing and tracking records (also known as cookies) found during the last scan.

Browsing Tracks

Browsing Tracks lets you review the browsing and tracking records (also known as cookies) found during the last scan. Deleting any found records is as easy as selecting the browser's checkbox and clicking Delete.

VIPRE Recommends

While not all cookies are bad, some do present a privacy risk.  For your protection, scan and delete browsing and tracking records on a regular basis.

Documents

The Documents tab in VIPRE Privacy Shield (previously VIPRE Identity Shield) shows you all of the documents found on your computer that potentially have sensitive information.

Documents

Leaving unprotected tax returns, bank statements, loan applications or other documents containing sensitive information on your computer puts you at risk of these documents falling into the wrong hands, potentially causing damage to your personal life and your privacy. Increased identity theft and other security breaches have emphasized the importance of maintaining control over access to your private records.

VIPRE Privacy Shield will find documents that contain any identified privacy risks falling under the following categories:

  • Credit Card
  • Password
  • Social Security
  • Financial

Benefits of the Vault

  • Organize your selected documents by category
    • Creating new categories is as easy as clicking + on the left side of the Categories column
  • Export your vault for use on another computer that has Privacy Shield installed
  • Import a saved vault from another computer
  • Manually encrypt files to the vault or decrypt files from the vault
  • Easily access files from the vault

Decrypting Vault Files

To decrypt files that are in the vault:

  1. Select View Vault
  2. You will be prompted to log in using your Windows username and password
  3. Select the files you want to decrypt
  4. Select where you would like to restore the decrypted file to

Important Note

If VIPRE Privacy Shield is uninstalled with encrypted files in the Vault, you will be prompted to decrypt the files. If you bypass this warning, the encrypted files will be permanently lost.

Dark Web

Privacy Shield now can scan the Dark Web to look for exposure of your email address or password.

The Dark Web

The Dark Web is made up of sites that you can’t access through traditional search engines such as Google, Safari, or Firefox. Most of the Dark Web is dedicated to the buying and selling of stolen financial and personal information. If your information ends up on the Dark Web — for instance, after a data breach — an identity thief could gain access to it.

How VIPRE is Protecting you

VIPRE employs a Dark Web scanning algorithm that searches for traces of your email account or password in breached databases.

NOTE: The Dark Web is vast and, unfortunately, it isn't possible for any company to search the entire Dark Web. While a scan can uncover when your data has been exposed, it may not always find every instance of this.

When searching for your personal information in the VIPRE Privacy Shield Dark Web scanner, the searched data is never stored. Only the bare minimum logs required to keep the service operational and combat malicious activity are stored, including transient web server logs. Refer to VIPRE Privacy Policy for additional details.
