Add a notification request to receive immediate email alerts when a threat is found in your environment. This article takes you through the steps to create the notification request.

How to Create an Immediate Notification Request

An email notification will be sent to all recipients as soon as VIPRE Cloud detects a threat that matches the alert criteria. The alert criteria you specify in a notification request is AND-ed together. That is, an alert must match all the values set for these items

  • Source
  • Severity
  • Policy name (when Scope is set to Policy)

An email notification is sent for each threat detected alert that is raised by an agent. For example, if 12 agents report the same threat then VIPRE Cloud will send 12 email notifications – one for each agent.

Add an Immediate Notification Request

  1. In System > Notifications, click Add Notification
  2. Enter a descriptive name
  3. For Type, select Threat Detected
  4. For Source, select which sources you want to trigger this alert:
    • AP - VIPRE's Active Protection "on access" protection - when a process attempts to perform known malicious behavior
    • SCAN - VIPRE's "ad-hoc" manual scanning - when a user manually kicks off a scan or a scheduled scan occurs
    • EMAIL - VIPRE's anti-spam, anti-phishing, anti-malware - bad links and file attachments in email
  5. Click and drag the Severity slider to select the minimum severity level that will trigger the notification
  6. For Recipients, enter a comma-separated list of recipients
  7. Select the Scope:
    • Site - alert will trigger for every agent in your site
    • Policy - alert will trigger only for agents assigned to the selected policies
  8. Click Add Notification
