VIPRE uses the following types of updates to keep your computer safe:

  • Threat Definitions Updates - Used by antivirus tools to identify all sorts of malware, whether by scans, email protection, or real-time protection. Threat Definitions updates are released frequently; often several times a day. For more information, refer to Managing Threat Definitions Updates.
  • Software Updates - Updates related to the actual VIPRE application. Periodically, there are updates that improve VIPRE's performance. Typically, once a year, a major upgrade is released with new functionality and general improvements. For more information, refer to Managing Software Updates.
  • Windows Update - VIPRE can manage settings for Windows Update for the computer that it is installed on. Windows Updates are regularly released by Microsoft to continuously improve the performance and security of your operating system. For more information, refer to Managing Settings for Windows Update.
