You can adjust the VIPRE icon displayed in the menu bar. The icon can change color depending on VIPRE's status and allows for quick access to VIPRE histories, the Ignored File list, and items in quarantine.
The VIPRE icon in the menu bar is enabled by default. At a glance, you can see that VIPRE is running and protecting you from threats. You can also click the icon to quickly access different VIPRE functions.
What do the different VIPRE icon colors mean?
The VIPRE menu bar icon changes color depending on VIPRE's status.
Color | Status | Required Action |
Green (Default) | Protected | None. Your Mac is fully protected by VIPRE. |
Yellow | At Risk | One or more recommended features are not enabled. Your Mac could be at risk of infection. Re-enable any disabled features as soon as possible. |
Red | Problem | A required part of VIPRE is not working. When VIPRE is in this state, it will display additional information regarding the problem. If you cannot resolve the issue, please contact VIPRE Support. |
Black White |
None | When VIPRE is set to Use black and white icon, it does not display a colored status. Disable this to see color statuses in your menu bar. |
To adjust the VIPRE menu bar icon
- Navigate to Preferences > General > Menu Bar
- Select or deselect Show VIPRE in menu bar.
- (Optional) Select or deselect Use black and white icon
VIPRE will continue to run in the background, even if the menu bar icon is turned off.
