To provide a seamless experience for your end-users, you can deploy VIPRE Security for Business (also known as the VIPRE Cloud Agent for Android Devices and Chromebooks) through your organization's Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform.
This article relates to a beta feature and is not currently generally available. Keep an eye on the release notes to be notified when this is released.
Prerequisites
- An active MDM Solution (e.g., Microsoft Intune, Google Workspace Endpoint Management, or VMware Workspace ONE, etc.)
- Android devices that are enrolled in your MDM as Corporate-Owned/Fully Managed or have a dedicated Work Profile
- Administrator access in your organization's MDM console to add apps, configure app policies, and adjust device restrictions
- Administrator access to your organization's VIPRE Endpoint Cloud admin console
Important
The following steps involve navigating third-party interfaces. While these instructions are accurate at the time of publication, vendors frequently update their user interface (UI) and menu layouts. Please use this guide as a reference for the specific VIPRE data and configurations required; the exact navigation paths within the third-party application may vary slightly.
- After logging into your organization's MDM, add VIPRE Security for Business to your organization's app catalog
To skip the QR scan or manual code input screen once the app is installed, you must push your unique organization code directly to the app. This is done using an App Configuration Policy (sometimes called Managed Configurations).
- Create a new App Configuration Policy targeting managed Android devices
- Select VIPRE Security for Business as the target app
- Look for the configuration designer or schema fields, and locate the key named enrollment_code (or enrollment_url)
- Enter your valid organization code (e.g., A123456) into the value field and save the policy
- To find your organization code:
- Log in to your VIPRE Cloud admin console in a separate browser tab
- Navigate to SETUP > Deploy Agents and scroll down to Android
- Underneath the QR code, click the link that says (or enter this code instead)
- To find your organization code:

In your MDM account, you'll need to configure it to silently grant all necessary permissions to guarantee that VIPRE Security for Business has the required access without relying on user interaction.
- Set your device restriction policies to "Auto-grant" for Location, Notifications, and Storage.
- Locate and enable the settings for Usage Stats and Always-On VPN
- Ensure the app is whitelisted from Android's native battery optimization/doze mode so it can run securely in the background without being suspended
- Assign both the app deployment and the configuration policies to your target user groups or device groups
- Set the app installation type to Required so it pushes to devices automatically without user intervention
Once deployed, the enrollment process is almost entirely automated. Here is what to expect on the device:
- VIPRE Security for Business is opened on the managed device
- The Legal / Data Collection Notice is displayed; you will still need to tap Continue
- The app instantly detects the pre-granted permissions and the enrollment_code pushed by your MDM
All manual QR code scans and permission requests are bypassed, proceeding directly to the Protection Dashboard.
Troubleshooting
If the zero-touch flow is interrupted or requires manual input (other than having to tap Continue as shown above in Step 12), it usually indicates a missing policy assignment. Use this table to cross-check your MDM settings against the behavior shown on the device:
| What the End User Sees | Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Appears on the Permission Setup Screen | Permissions were not pushed or applied correctly by the MDM. | Verify your Device Restriction profiles. Ensure standard permissions are set to "Auto-grant" and battery/VPN profiles are successfully assigned to the device. |
| Prompts for a Manual QR Code / Text Code | The app has permissions, but cannot find the enrollment_code. | Check your App Configuration Policy. Verify that the policy is assigned to the device and that the code contains no typos or extra spaces. |
| Registration Fails Gracefully, drops to manual code entry | The MDM pushed an invalid or expired code. | Verify that the code entered in your MDM's Managed Configuration payload is currently active for your organization. |
