Chromebooks use a specialized container with Android to run mobile apps deep within its system architecture. While you use ChromeOS to manage your windows and browse the web, the Android version determines which apps you can download and how they perform.
Please note, ChromeOS Flex does not contain an Android container and is unable to install/run mobile apps from the Google Play Store.

Follow the steps below to check the Android version on your Chromebook.
- Open the App Launcher by clicking its icon
- Navigate to Settings
- Select the Apps section
- Choose Manage Google Play Preferences; this will open a new, mobile-style settings window
- Scroll down and select About Device
Your Android version will be displayed in this section. Each Chromebook may have slight variations in menu navigation, so if these steps don't match your device exactly, consult your specific Chromebook's user manual.
