If you use a proxy to connect to the Internet, enter that information in Updates. Typically, home users do not require a proxy server. If you think you may need to use a proxy and do not know how to acquire the necessary information, you can consult your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or Network Administrator to obtain proxy information.
To set up a proxy server:
- Click Manage, then Updates
- Scroll down to Proxy for Updates
- Check Use a Proxy
- Enter the Proxy Server Information
- Address: Enter the IP Address (e.g. 10.3.120.3) or the server name (i.e. OurServer) of a server that you are connected to
- Port: Enter the port number (e.g. 8080) of the server that is used to connect to the Internet. This goes in the box on the right
- Select the Password checkbox if the server to which you connect for Internet access requires login credentials
- Enter the information provided by your ISP or Network Administrator
- Once your proxy settings are enabled, VIPRE should establish an Internet connection
