What's New
This Custom Build release of the VIPRE Agent for Windows is available for all VIPRE Endpoint Cloud-based products, including Endpoint EDR+MDR, Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR), Endpoint Security Cloud (ESC), and Site Manager (VSM), and is now available for early-access testing.
This update features an updated threat engine with stability improvements and includes some important reliability fixes for definition updates. It resolves a rare issue that could previously cause the unexpected creation or deletion of random paths, and improves compatibility with other applications, such as Sage 2000.
VIPRE Recommends
Keeping all software in your environment as up-to-date as possible is critical. New software releases often fix issues with older product versions that, unless addressed, could leave you vulnerable. As such, VIPRE recommends updating to the most recent version as soon as possible.

Custom Build Codes
With VIPRE-provided custom build codes, you can access VIPRE Cloud Agent releases that are not generally available. We may make these builds available to fix specific customer issues or for early access to builds planned for GA release but not yet released.
Custom agent builds may either be released under General Availability (GA), or the fixes within them could be incorporated into another GA release. Once this happens, the custom build will no longer be relevant. Depending on the policy's Auto-approve and Auto-deploy settings, the new GA release may automatically be deployed to your endpoints. Special Instructions
Retrieve and Install a Custom Build
If you have a custom build code, this article will walk you through how to retrieve the custom build Agent. This article applies to Endpoint EDR+MDR, Endpoint Detection & Response, and Endpoint Security Cloud.
Retrieve Custom Build
You might receive a custom build code from our Technical Support team or from the release notes for a recent custom build. Once you have that build code, follow the steps below to actually retrieve the build.
- On the left-side blue menu, under SETUP, select Deploy Agents
- On the right side of the window, under Retrieve Custom Build, click the button that says Enter Build Code
- Enter the build code that was provided to you and select Retrieve
Once the custom build agent is retrieved, it will appear under the current version.
Install the Custom Build
There are two options to deploy the agent once you have the custom build.
Option 1: Update Devices
This is a remote option that does not require you to visit individual endpoints to update the agent. When installing Custom Build Agents in this way, it is strongly recommended that you select only the machines that you have dedicated for testing purposes.
- Next to the Custom Build, click Update Devices
- Select the checkboxes next to the endpoints you would like to update to this custom build
- Click Update Selected
A task is sent remotely to the selected agents to perform the update.
Option 2: Create Policy Installer
This is more of a manual installation option, allowing you to create a policy-based custom-build agent MSI file for individual endpoints.
- Next to the Custom Build, click Create Policy Installer
- Select your desired policy, then click Select
- Allow some time for the policy-specific agent installer to be created, then click Download Installer
Your browser will then download the vipre_private_agent_yoursitename_yourpolicyname_versionnumber.msi file. Use your preferred method to get this MSI file to the endpoints you've chosen for installation.

Known Issues and Workarounds
This section highlights issues identified at the time of release. Some are bugs that we are actively addressing in future updates, while others may be related to third-party software. We've provided workarounds to help you manage these situations effectively wherever possible.
Current known issues include:
- Device Control Limitation: Blocking Mobile Device Storage does not prevent iTunes Sync as expected
- Laptop Crashes: Devices using docking stations with Realtek NICs may experience crashes; updating the laptop’s Realtek drivers is recommended as a resolution
