Product release information for VIPRE Advanced Security for Home - Mac Edition, version 11.0.22, released on September 6, 2019. This article contains information on what's new in this release and the system requirements. There are also special instructions for installing on Mojave or Catalina. Any issues discovered with this version are listed here along with suggestions on how to work-around the issue, if applicable.

What's New

  • Catalina and Mojave - This release provides full support for the newest Mac operating systems; Catalina 10.15 and Mojave 10.14.6.

Special Instructions

As of macOS 10.14 Mojave, applications no longer have full access to all disk locations by default. Instead, Apple has given users the ability to decide if an application should have that access. For VIPRE, full disk access is needed to be able to scan all disk locations. Without this access, VIPRE cannot scan all disk locations, including Home and Time Machine backups and thus may not detect threats in those areas.

  • Follow the step-by-step instructions in this article to enable full disk access.

For guidance on installing VIPRE on your Mac, see our Get Started Guide. To learn more about the available actions and settings see our full set of documentation available in here in our Success Center.

Known Issues and Workarounds

This section lists issues that are known at the time of release. In some cases, these are bugs that we are working to resolve with a subsequent release. Other items may be due to causes outside of our control, such as bugs with other vendors' software. In all cases, we have tried to provide a workaround for you to consider, should you experience an issue.

If you have questions about a specific issue, please provide the issue ID (if applicable) when contacting our Technical Support team.

Full scan will scan network volumes on Catalina (VIPREMAC-2011)

Symptom: On Catalina, a Full Scan will also scan any network volumes.

Workaround: To prevent scanning the network shared locations, add the mount path (/System/Volumes/Data/Volumes) to the VIPRE exclusions list.

Active Protection is blinking red and VIPRE displays "At Risk" status
or a "System Extension Blocked" message is displayed

This is not a bug. By design, the Mac operating system (High Sierra and later) now requires users to approve the loading of third-party system extensions. In order for VIPRE to properly protect your system, you must approve VIPRE (ThreatTrack Security, Inc) to be loaded as a system extension.

Failure to allow the VIPRE system extension will cause Active Protection to be disabled.

  • Active Protection is blinking red and VIPRE's status is "AT RISK"
