Set up a Full Scan to run if a Quick Scan finds threats

When creating or editing a scheduled scan, you can trigger a longer, more robust full scan if the quick scan finds threats. This is useful to keep scheduled scans to a minimum unless something is found.

  • This setting only applies to scheduled scans. If you run a manual Quick Scan and threats are found, it's a good idea to run a manual Full Scan after.

By default, VIPRE runs Quick Scans and Full Scans on a predefined schedule in order to better protect you. You can adjust when VIPRE runs scheduled scans to better meet your needs.

Make VIPRE dig deeper when it finds threats

If you like, you can set schedule a Quick Scan to kick off a deeper Full Scan if VIPRE finds any threats. This way, the first scheduled scan will complete faster — unless VIPRE finds a threat, in which case it will perform an immediate full review of your Mac.

To enable a Full Scan if a Quick Scan finds threats

  1. Navigate to the scheduled scan settings (Preferences > Schedules)
  2. Click on Quick Scan
  3. (Optional) Adjust how often you want the scan to occur
  4. Select Perform a Full Scan if threats were found

A Full Scan will now run immediately if threats are found during the scheduled Quick Scan.
