User Roles

User roles make it easier for VIPRE Site Manager to provide the features that each individual needs. By setting user roles appropriately, you can ensure that changes aren't made to critical systems, while allowing Administrators to make necessary settings changes to the product or customer sites.

VIPRE Site Manager provides user roles for Admins and Analysts. Additionally, you can create a limited view-only tenant role at the site level.

Site Manager user roles

VIPRE Site Manager users may belong to either an admin or analyst role. These roles apply to Site Manager settings only; all users have full admin abilities when they navigate into a customer site.

  • Analyst role – Limited to standard system access at the Site Manager level. This includes management of threats, scans, quarantined items, report views, site overviews, and device screens.
  • Admin role – The Admin role has full access to Site Manager product configuration, as well as user management and can create/edit/delete tenant sites. They can also update the Site Manager site name.

CAUTION: Because VIPRE Site Manager is a site management product, both admins and analysts have full super-admin access to customer sites. You do not have a visible user account on the individual tenant site, but you have full admin access.

VIPRE Cloud user roles

VIPRE Cloud individual user roles are managed at the customer site level.

When you navigate into an tenant site, you are logged in through SSO as a special "invisible admin". You have full admin capability on the tenant site, but do not show up in the user list.

See the following articles for more information on VIPRE Cloud user levels:

View-only tenant role

The special view-only tenant role makes it possible for sites to view information about their account but not make any changes. They cannot see any data related to other VIPRE sites.

The view-only tenant role gives tenants access to information about their system, resource utilization, and any current threats that have been detected, but does allow the tenant to alter their system on their own. This provides for a fully managed service with customer transparency to the VIPRE dashboard, threats, system status, and devices.

View-only tenant roles are created during the process of adding a new VIPRE site.
